About Izzy
I am a student studying philosophy at Bachelor level having successfully completed my A-Levels. I now specialise in the area of Philosophy of Mind that considers questions concerning the nature of consciousness, experience and what the humans place in the universe is. Additionally I specialise in Ethics, which considers the moral debates surrounding the key social and environmental issues we are faced for centuries as well as developments in contemporary societies such as the impacts of technology and artificial intelligence, to the impacts Human actions and the environmental crisis. I haven’t taught formally before, but have a great deal of transferable skills grounded in written communication, critical text analysis of philosophical texts are both A-Level and Degree level, as well as the skills to formulate arguments. These are all skills that I know I can share and teach to others. I’ve worked as a chair of study groups through my educational career, this has meant I am no stranger to communicating ideas to others within a group or individually. I find that debate and discussion are great tools and are vital for finding out the most effective creative ways to tailor the learning of a concepts to an individual student.

Philosophy is about grasping concepts and the formulation of clear and logical argument in order to establish a considered position about these concepts. This is why my teaching methodology will be based upon two different methods. Primarily I will encourage a verbal debate about the relevant topic, to discuss the relevant content, where it sits in relation to the discourse surrounding it and to consider what position the student would like to argue from. I like to start with debate to stimulate ideas and engage ourselves in the topic. Following this, I will introduce the student to argument structures and linguist styles that can be used to help written communication. This is where we will focus on answering questions to articulate the concepts we have grasped. My hope is to develop the students ability to argue coherently for am point of view, and in the best cases this point of view will be something the student has belief and conviction in defending!
