I like to approach my classes as discussions, for theory, drawing in influences from current day developments while also paying homage to historical points of interest in the medium. A crucial topic is how the medium is always changing and once photographers understand this, this can fuel their desire to photograph at their best throughout their life. For practical lessons, I find it imperative that no matter what students do, they always record what they do and keep trying, things will fail, but if you keep going out shooting, developing, you will improve your skills, and find your niche.
