About William
I am a physicist in my third year of study at Georgia Tech. I began tutoring in chemistry in my sophomore year of high school through the National Honors Society, of which I was a member, but quickly swapped to physics after discovering my true passion for physics. I continued to tutor in physics for the remainder of my high school career, eventually founding a group tutoring program within the NHS to accommodate the growing demand for my tutelage. At the collegiate level I have dedicated myself to the pursuit of physics excellence. I was independently hired by Georgia Tech to write and edit their online physics textbook resource, including the creation and management of numerous original webpages dedicated to physics topics under study in GT introductory physics classes. These pages included in depth explanations of physical concepts akin to a transcribed college lecture as well as history, mathematical derivation of natural laws, and the creation of practice problems using these concepts and laws at multiple varied levels of rigor and difficulty. The following year I began working as a CRLA certified tutor for Georgia Tech. This tutoring took two forms: tutoring by appointment made at least 24 hours in advance or walk-in help desk tutoring available regularly through the week. Here I gained considerable experience in both formulating and applying lesson plans as well as adapting to the individual needs of my tutees in real time. Throughout my career I have strived to uphold a standard of excellence in the craft of tutoring and the field of physics such that a deep understanding of the natural world can be made available to all who are dedicated to learning and willing to work for it.

Tutoring is inherently a customer service oriented profession. Thus my approach is simply to evaluate the relative strengths and challenges of my tutee and adjust accordingly. For example, I would make liberal use of guiding questions with a tutee attempting to review material and increase understanding. However, if a tutee requires tutoring more akin to education as opposed to reinforcement, then my lesson plan can be adapted to include guiding my tutees through the creation of helpful graphs and diagrams and building fundamental learning and problem solving skills that can apply to a wide range of questions and situations. In summary, my teaching approach is to determine what needs my tutees have and meet them in the most efficient and helpful way possible, as opposed to cramming tutees into a general mold that works well for some but can be borderline harmful to the understanding of students with different learning styles.

He is not a kind person at all. I was learning under him at mathnasium and he always was staring at me and never letting me focus.
I believe William is one of the best tutors I've had! I had Will when I was taking physics 1 at Georgia Tech. It was a difficult class, and I wanted to get acquainted with a good tutor for the semester to help me stay on track in the class. William not only proved that he was very knowledgeable in physics, but he also was able to explain and re-explain concepts in different ways (diagraming, illustrating, examples, different routes of logic). He was always patient with any questions I had no matter how minute, and he was great at following and improving my thought process for many different types of problems. On top of being very capable, William was also a very personable tutor who could crack nerdy jokes as well as he could explain physics!
I’ve known William for many years and he’s helped several of my children with math and science. William is very perceptive of differences in learning styles and is eager to understand how to best help each individual student he works with. He is also incredibly intelligent but to me, his strength lies in his earnest efforts to figure out what the best way is to help each individual student. He’s also a very positive and encouraging tutor, so he will not only help your student succeed, he will help them feel really good about the process and themselves. Can’t recommend him highly enough!
William tutored me in physics in the fall and did a great job giving understandable explanations of concepts, made effective use of diagrams, and had an in depth understanding of the material.
Mr. Poe is dedicated to providing the best Physics tutoring around. He took the time to figure out exactly what I was struggling with and catered the session to my needs. His knowledge and understanding of the material is impressive. He makes sure you feel confident in your understanding before moving on to the next topic. Before the pandemic was even a thing, we were not able to meet in person. So, he offered to video call in and do a session that way.
Will has been an amazing tutor for me throughout both high school and college. His humble nature and ability to understand even the most complex of ideas, makes for an excellent tutor. He's my go-to guy for anything regarding math, science, and physics.
