I tutor students across grades K-12. I will usually spend the first meeting with my students setting up academic and personal goals so that they and I can measure relevant progress. Then, we will revisit those goals periodically to ensure that we are on track. It is my policy to never lecture or talk at a student. Rather, the goal is to achieve knowledge through conversation and Socratic questioning. This way, the student is meaningfully engaged with the lesson and I can better assess what they understand. Of course, the specific teaching style is flexible. I am happy to adjust based on what the student feels most comfortable with.
I am a sophomore in college, majoring in philosophy and computer science. I also do research in computational biophysics. With these backgrounds, I am a competent tutor with regards to English writing, science, and mathematics. I founded a Tutoring Service Association at the largest high school in the nation, training other students to become tutors and offering tutoring services myself for AP exams.
