About Maia

I hold a B.Sc in Physics and an M.Sc in Advanced Physical Sciences, with 13 years of experience teaching physics across secondary and pre-university levels. My academic journey strengthened my appreciation for how physical laws describe both simple daily motion and complex natural systems. My teaching approach is calm, structured, and deeply student-centered. I take time to understand each learner’s background, challenges, and learning pace, adjusting explanations to ensure clarity and comfort. I believe confidence grows when students feel supported and never rushed through understanding. Beyond teaching, I stay actively engaged with physics through research reading, problem analysis, and continuous learning. Teaching physics is meaningful to me because I witness students transform fear into confidence and curiosity, developing strong analytical skills that benefit them across disciplines.

About the lesson

Physics becomes far less intimidating when learners understand the meaning behind each concept instead of memorizing formulas mechanically. My lessons are carefully designed to help students build intuition first, using everyday examples, visual explanations, and logical storytelling to explain physical phenomena. I focus on helping learners recognize patterns, relationships, and cause-and-effect principles that make physics feel structured and predictable rather than overwhelming. Each lesson progresses steadily, allowing students to absorb ideas fully before moving forward.

Students begin with foundational topics such as motion, forces, work, energy, and momentum, developing confidence through guided examples and discussion. As lessons advance, learners explore waves, electricity, magnetism, optics, thermodynamics, and introductory modern physics concepts. I emphasize diagram interpretation, unit consistency, clear mathematical reasoning, and step-by-step problem-solving strategies. Practice questions are discussed in detail so students understand not just the answer, but the reasoning behind it.

Physics lessons also help students develop patience, logical discipline, and confidence in their thinking. Over time, learners become calmer when approaching complex problems and more comfortable explaining their reasoning clearly. My goal is to help students feel empowered by physics, trusting their ability to understand and apply scientific ideas with confidence.
