About Laurie
I discovered my passion for physics early in life, which led me to pursue a Master’s in Physics. Over 7 years of teaching, I have helped students of various ages and abilities approach physics in a clear, structured, and engaging way. My teaching emphasises conceptual clarity, practical understanding, and building problem-solving skills alongside confidence.
I focus on creating a warm learning environment where questions are encouraged, and curiosity is nurtured. Lessons combine visual aids, experiments, real-life examples, and stepwise explanations to make complex ideas accessible. Each student receives tailored guidance to build understanding and confidence in tackling physics topics.
Outside the classroom, I remain involved with current scientific developments, research, and innovative teaching methods to enhance lesson quality. Watching students transition from uncertainty to mastery, develop analytical skills, and approach problems with confidence is deeply fulfilling. My goal is to nurture both knowledge and curiosity, encouraging students to appreciate the physical world and approach it with logical thinking and confidence.

Physics is most exciting when students can connect abstract concepts to the world around them. My lessons focus on mechanics, energy, thermodynamics, waves, and electricity, using simple explanations, demonstrations, and step-by-step problem-solving. Students are encouraged to ask questions, perform experiments, and visualise physical principles, which helps build both understanding and confidence. Lessons aim to develop analytical thinking and curiosity in learners while making complex topics accessible.
I tailor lessons according to skill levels. Beginners explore fundamental ideas of motion, forces, and energy with examples and guided exercises. Intermediate learners work on calculations, circuits, and multi-step problems with reasoning support. Advanced learners focus on derivations, experimental interpretation, and exam strategies. Every session combines explanations, exercises, and discussion to ensure steady progress while maintaining engagement and confidence.
Physics education goes beyond solving equations; it fosters logical reasoning, problem-solving, and observation skills. Students gain confidence in applying concepts to real-world problems and develop a curious mindset for exploration. My goal is to create a safe, encouraging learning environment where learners understand principles deeply and feel confident approaching scientific challenges independently.
