About Ed

Hi there! I graduated 1st class in Physics from Newcastle University in 2020. I'm now an engineer working in the defence sector.

I'm qualified to teach a range of fields in physics, such as particle physics, astrophysics, quantum mechanics, etc. If there is a specific area you're interested in, feel free to shoot me a message and we'll see if it's within my skill set.

I also like to keep up to date with new developments in physics, particularly astrophysics. If my student is interested in learning about these, I think they're a great way to get engaged with physics.

Roughly 50% of my course modules were pure mathematics, so I'm equally ready to teach maths from linear algebra right up to ODEs.

I'm equipped to teach maths and physics at A Level and at early degree level. I'm happy to take on a tutee of any ability.

I've previously tutored two AS Level maths students. Both were struggling with maths, but I was proud to see real improvement in their mock exam results by end of term.

From my experience tutoring, I've found the most effective way to learn is by getting hands on. We'll start with guided problem solving, and then I'll let the tutee tackle a similar problem on their own. To me, the beauty of maths is that there's always more than one way to solve something.

I've previously stuck to short (~1 hour) and frequent sessions to aid focus - but this will vary from student to student, and is something we'll discuss in our first session.
