About Alannah
Hi! I’m Alannah, a physics graduate and current MSc student with a real love for math, physics, and problem-solving.
I have an honors BSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of Galway (formerly NUIG), and I’m currently completing an MSc in Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics at UCD. I offer Leaving Certificate Math, Applied Math, and Physics grinds at both Higher and Ordinary Level.
Students can expect a friendly, patient, and encouraging approach to lessons. I know that Math and Physics can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and saying when something just doesn’t make sense!
I particularly enjoy finding different ways to explain difficult concepts until we find the approach that clicks for you. Whether your goal is to build confidence, improve your grades, prepare for exams, or simply get a better understanding of the subject, I’m happy to meet you wherever you’re at and work from there!

Math, physics, and applied math often seem like daunting subjects - but the right approach makes all the difference!
My lessons are tailored to each student, and focus on building a real understanding of the material through one-to-one discussion. By breaking topics down step-by-step, identifying new ways to look at things, and working through examples together, students are supported to build their confidence towards tackling questions independently!
Lessons are typically one hour and are conducted online. Any given lesson may involve learning/revising a topic, working through problem areas, or practicing past exam questions.
After each lesson, I send a personalized set of notes covering what we worked on, including explanations and worked examples. These build up throughout the year, so by exam time, each student has their own set of revision notes, tailored to the topics and methods we have worked on together and to the way you learn best!
If there’s something in particular you’d like to work on, you’re always encouraged to have a say in what we cover – whether it’s a tricky topic, a specific question, or something you’d simply like more practice with.
If you’re not sure where to start, that’s absolutely fine too! We can work together to identify areas that could use some extra attention and build a plan from there.
And if you prefer a more structured approach, I will guide the direction of our lessons throughout the year, identifying areas to work on as we go and making sure we cover the topics and skills that will benefit you most!

I’m a 6th hl year student and I’ve been finding Alannah’s lessons really helpful. We usually go through exam questions or if I’m confused about something, we spend some time focusing on figuring it out and then move onto questions. Really like the notes as well. I recommend for anyone in LC maths/physics :)
Alannah and I had many classes in common during our bachelor degrees, where we tackled many assignments together. She's problem solving focused and is great at approaching a problem in many different ways to help you understand. She'll help you develop your own problem solving and there's much more lots to learn from her!
