About Akhil

I did my M.S. in Astronomy and will be pursuing my Ph.D. next. I studied at The Ohio State University and have a wide range of experience helping students struggling with Math concepts. Currently, I am researching Stellar Astrophysics at my university and enjoy teaching students in my free time. My highest Math education is Honors Linear Algebra and Differential Equations. I have five years of experience tutoring students in AP Calculus, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Common Core.

About the lesson

I am a Physics graduate currently researching Stellar Astrophysics. I did my undergrad in Astronomy & Physics with Honors in Math and Physics. My passion for teaching students started when I first worked as a teaching assistant. I found it rewarding as not only could I help others come to enjoy the subjects I love, but I could brush up on my foundations. I helped struggling students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and improve average test scores by 13%. Apart from solving worksheets with the students, I also compile questions for the students to solve, which I grade. This way, I can understand the areas in which the student need improvement and their knowledge of the concepts.

I use a question-based approach to assess the student's knowledge to help the student understand the concepts needed before solving a problem. I prefer to add questioning to my explanation as it stimulates the student's thinking process and ensures that they remember the steps involved.
