About Sarah
Hi, I am Sarah, a junior Physics major at Temple University with minors in Mathematics and Astrophysics and a 3.7 GPA. I have a deep passion for math and physics and an equally strong commitment to helping others understand them.
I did not always see myself as a math and science person. When I started college I avoided STEM entirely because I believed it was too hard and that I simply was not built for it. Eventually, I took the leap, and it changed everything. That experience gives me a perspective that most tutors do not have. I know firsthand what it feels like to doubt yourself in these subjects, and I know that the barrier is almost always confidence, not ability. That is why one of my deepest commitments as a tutor is making sure every student I work with knows that they are capable.
Beyond the classroom, I have spent the last two years as a researcher on a high-energy particle astrophysics team alongside the dean of my college, giving me hands-on experience at the cutting edge of physics research. I have served as a Teaching Assistant, a Student Ambassador for the Physics Department, and I sit on the executive boards of both the Physics Club and the Astronomy Club. These roles have reinforced my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, mentor peers, and represent my field with professionalism.
I have also been working with children and teens since 2019 as a public pool lifeguard and manager, an experience that has shaped me into a calm, patient, and adaptable communicator. I know how to connect with young people, earn their trust, and keep them engaged even when things get tough.
Academically, I have completed coursework spanning the full math sequence through Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics, as well as upper-level physics courses including Electricity and Magnetism, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, and Classical Mechanics. That breadth means I can meet students at any level and help them see the bigger picture as they progress.
I take tutoring seriously. I show up prepared, I communicate clearly, and I genuinely care about every student I work with. My goal is not just to help you get through an assignment, but to leave you more capable and more confident than when we started.
If you are looking for a tutor who is knowledgeable, professional, and truly invested in your success, I would love to work with you.

My approach centers on figuring out how a student thinks before diving into content. In a first session, I'll ask a student to walk me through a problem in their own words, not to test them, but to identify exactly where the gap is. Some students need visual diagrams, others need step by step algebraic structure, and some just need a better real world analogy. There is no one fit all approach.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in on what was covered in class recently, then we tackle whatever is most pressing, homework, an upcoming exam, or a concept that hasn't quite clicked yet. I'll work through one example problem with the student, then have them attempt a similar one while I guide without giving away answers. The goal is always for them to leave feeling like they solved it. I'm a firm believer that the best way to learn math and physics is by doing. Working through problems builds muscle memory and a strong intuitive foundation, that way when a student encounters a new problem, they're not starting from scratch.
What sets me apart is my combination of a strong technical background and the patience to match. Since 2019 I've worked as a public pool lifeguard and manager, working with children and teens of all temperaments and backgrounds. That experience has given me an unwavering patience and resilience that translates directly into tutoring. I know how to stay calm, adapt on the fly, and keep a student engaged even when frustration kicks in. I also place a huge emphasis on building confidence. A lot of students come in believing they're just "bad at math," and I think that's almost never true. I thought the same about myself at a young age. Breaking that mental barrier is just as important as teaching the content itself, because a student who believes they can figure it out actually will.
Math and physics can be approached from so many angles, algebraically, visually, intuitively, and numerically. The best explanation is the one that clicks naturally. Forcing a method that doesn't fit how someone thinks leads to memorization without understanding. Finding the right angle leads to deep comprehension and lessons that actually stick.
My lessons are best suited for middle school through early college students. I can tutor across everything I've studied myself:
Math: Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I/II/III, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics
Physics: Physics I and II, Electricity and Magnetism, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, Classical Mechanics, Astronomy
