About Cameron
I'm a third year physics and math double major, and have been tutoring classmates since 7th grade. I've been payed to tutor since I started college, and I've never let a student give up without understanding something. The most important part is always the understanding, being able to 'do' math is great but its more essential to know why you do a process. I started tutoring because I hated seeing my classmates get discouraged by callous and impatient teachers, and so I would teach them on the side. I remember a classmate crying in my high school AP calculus class because the teacher kept yelling at her, so I began teaching her every day in study hall in order to better understand the material. That student went from a C in the class to an A-, and scored a 5/5 on the AP test at the end of the class.

It is hard to just write down a lesson plan or teaching methods, because you have to tailor your approach to the student. First you have to see where exactly the confusion lies, whether it be something small like not understanding what 'x' represents in the equation or something larger, like not understanding the mechanics behind multiplication. Whatever the confusion may be, it is also important to remain patient with the student and never treat them like they're dumb for not understanding something. I break the problem down into the smallest step size and work through examples with them, making sure to elaborate on any important or confusing points in the process. I am comfortable and have experience tutoring in any math level below university, along with Calculus 1-3, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra at the college level.
