About Elan
I am a UC Berkeley graduate with a double major in Physics and Molecular & Cell Biology. Currently I'm pursuing a Masters in Science Education, also at UC Berkeley, and am in Santa Barbara for a semester as part of my program. I have been a graduate student instructor at UC Berkeley in the Astronomy department for three semesters. I've also tutored Physics for a number of years to high schoolers and undergraduates at the Student Learning Center at UC Berkeley, as well as worked for two years as an educator at the world's most awesome science museum, the Exploratorium in San Francisco.

My philosophy about tutoring is that every single person is more than intelligent enough to comprehend the material--it just takes someone who is willing and patient enough to go through everything step-by-step in order to paint a clear picture that connects concepts together and shows how sensible and fun physics really is. No one is "too stupid" to learn anything. I struggled for a long time thinking I wasn't smart enough to understand physics--it was only when I found good teachers who were patient, kind and clear communicators that I realized how false that was. I would love to help you realize this for yourself--and how freaking fun and empowering it is to apply the abstract concepts you learn from physics to a myriad of specific situations that arise in the course of your very own beautiful life!
Other passions of mine include backpacking, The Beatles, playing sports and guitar!
