About JOHN ALEJANDRO
Throughout my academic journey, I have strived for excellence, championing values such as responsibility, teamwork, and discipline; I have come to understand these as keystones of, not just academic, but also personal growth. During high school, I distinguished myself for my passion and commitment as defining aspects of my life. At Universidad del Valle (Colombia), I have continued this never-ending search for challenging experiences, consistently ranking first academically. Consequently, I was chosen for a 7-month research internship at the University of Rochester (Chemistry), where I expanded my language and academic skills with students and professors from different places in the world.
Is in this journey that I have found my passion for being a tutor and giving others a hand as many did for me during my bachelor time. Thus, during the last 5 years, I have been accumulating experience and growing as a tutor too. My lessons are mainly in math and physics, taught in either Spanish or English, for students going through high school or undergrad studies. Always aiming for the highest possible quality, to create study habits in students and make their academic path a little easier.

As a tutor, my sessions are usually divided into 4 stages, as a consequence of the large number of students with whom I have worked, both in Colombia and in the United States (7-month internship at the University of Rochester, NY). Those stages are,
Short Introduction: Understand the academic background of the student. Set learning objectives for the session inclined to the interests of the student.
Theory: Introduce new concepts with clear explanations. Use visual aids and examples to illustrate key points. Encourage questions and discussions for a first approach to a new topic.
Activity: Engage students in a hands-on activity or problem-solving exercise. Provide guidance and feedback as needed.
Review and Clarification. Identify weak parts to strengthen the concept.
Summarize key points: Address any remaining questions or areas of confusion. Assignments and Practice. Provide additional resources for further exploration (e.g. books, articles, videos).
