About Gretchen

I hold a BSc in Space and Planetary Science and have been tutoring Physics for over five years. Most of my work focuses on guiding students through IGCSE and A-Level Physics. I use a mix of methods to support learning: detailed derivations, practical experiments, and plenty of past paper practice. Mechanics, electricity, and waves are my areas of expertise, though I cover the full curriculum. I emphasize the importance of truly understanding principles rather than just memorizing formulas. Past papers help bridge the gap between theory and exam performance, and I ensure students get lots of practice with them. I also create a supportive environment where questions are always welcome. Physics can be intimidating at first, but confidence grows when concepts are explained clearly. My students often surprise themselves with how quickly progress comes. I enjoy seeing that “lightbulb moment” when a difficult topic finally clicks. Together, we’ll build a strong foundation and achieve your goals step by step.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology focuses on making Physics clear, logical, and engaging. I start by explaining core ideas step by step, breaking down even the most complex topics. Subjects like mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and gas laws are taught through both theory and practical examples. I enjoy being an experimentalist, often using simple gadgets to demonstrate how Physics plays out in everyday life. Derivations are an important part of my lessons, as they show the reasoning behind equations and help students think like problem-solvers. I also encourage lots of past paper practice to strengthen exam technique. My feedback is consistent and constructive, ensuring students know how to improve. I place special emphasis on understanding energy, since it connects so many areas of Physics. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s pace. I believe in building a supportive environment where no question is too small. With the right guidance, students can turn challenges into strengths and achieve excellence.
