About Melissa

My name is Melissa, and music has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I’ve been playing piano for over 10 years and also play four other instruments, which has given me a well-rounded understanding of music. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of teaching children, and I’ve discovered that my greatest strength as a tutor is my ability to be patient while adapting to each child’s unique learning style. Parents can feel confident knowing that I create lessons that are both structured and supportive. I always make sure my students feel encouraged and comfortable, while also motivating them to do their best and grow in skill and confidence. Professionalism is very important to me—I come prepared, organized, and dedicated to helping students succeed. Whether your child is just starting their very first piano lesson or is ready to advance to the next level, I am committed to making their learning experience positive, professional, and inspiring.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on patience, encouragement, and adaptability. Every child learns at their own pace, so I always start by seeing where they are and then adjust my teaching method to fit their needs. My lessons are friendly and supportive, creating an environment where kids feel comfortable exploring music while also being gently pushed to do their best.

A typical lesson with me includes reviewing what the student practiced during the week, introducing new material from beginner to intermediate method books, and adding fun exercises or familiar songs to keep things exciting. I use clear explanations and plenty of positive reinforcement, while also encouraging consistency and discipline—skills that go beyond piano.

What sets me apart is my background as a multi-instrumentalist. I play five instruments, but piano has been my focus for over 10 years, and I’ve taught children before, not just in music but sports as well. I love making lessons engaging and relatable, whether the goal is learning basic keyboard skills, reading sheet music, or building confidence through performance.

My lessons are best suited for beginner to intermediate kids who want a supportive, encouraging teacher who will help them grow while keeping music fun.
