About Tim
I am a pianist and brass player based in Los Angeles. I have 10 years of experience in piano performance and 6 years in trumpet performance. I am currently a member of the Colburn Brass Quintet as well as the Honors Piano Seminar at the Colburn School. I am also an extension student at the Juilliard School, studying Music Theory II and Ear Training.

I offer music theory, piano, and keyboard skills lessons online. For music theory, I use The Complete Musician Textbook (4th Edition) that covers all music theory topics from the basics to higher level analysis. I begin lessons with a brief clef reading warm up from the Dandelot practice book. Then, I work on some current exercises with the student and explain new topics in the textbook. I tutor kids and teens from 8 to 16 year-olds, from beginning level up to Music Theory II (college level).
For piano/keyboard lessons, I begin with scale exercises and arpeggios. Then, I listen to the student's sound and work on specific skills such as trills, staccatos, and turns. I can tutor kids and adults piano from the beginning level to the Grade 8 ABRSM level.
