About Joseph
I am a musician and entertainer with 20 years of experience. I have coached many bands in Europe and in America as well as performed hundreds of live shows. I have worked as a freelance educator as well as designing online courses in a variety of subjects, but, music is my heart and soul. Music theory scares many new musicians. The old way of teaching theory is counter-intuitive and results are slow and often the process is arduous.
Whether you are an aspiring songwriter or you play in a cover band or solo act, music theory will greatly enhance your performances as well as your own musicianship. Imagine being able to sit in on a session and someone says, "let's try the relative minor of this key and then jam off of the Phyrigian mode!" What do you do? Well, you can try to pick it up by ear, or, armed with a solid foundation in theory that is taught in an intuitive manner meant for musicians who don't want all of the Julliard headaches - or expenses - you could easily become the musician directing the whole show.

I have a Master's in Education and my teaching approach is to employ a multi-pronged strategy for learners because people learn in different ways and at different rates. I am well-versed in all modern learning theories and apply each in my mentoring. First, I work with students to identify their learning style and create meaningful lessons based upon each student's particular way of learning. Second, I believe that the teacher-student mode is, well, out-moded. Rather, learning is a give-and-take process. As a student, you will be asking questions and constantly challenging me to experiment with and adopt even more efficient methods of communicating the material you need as you journey through music theory.
