About Zoe

Hi, I'm Zoe! I have been playing piano for 14 years, and sharing my love of music with others is one of my greatest joys. My passion is helping students succeed on their own journeys, whether that means playing their very first song or finally mastering a piece they thought was out of reach. I spent 4 years working with children at a summer camp, and I work with high school students in teen outreach programs, so I know how to connect with students of all ages and make every lesson engaging. I also concentrated in math education in college, which helps me explain rhythm, scales and music theory in a clear, logical way. I'm patient, organized and reliable, and I come to every lesson prepared to work at each student's pace. My goal is for every student to leave our lessons more confident than when they arrived, and I look forward to making music with you!

About the lesson

A typical lesson:
Warm-up (5–10 min): scales and finger exercises to build strength and technique
Review (10 min): we go over last week's practice and celebrate your progress
New material (15–20 min): a new piece, a new section, or a new theory concept, taught step by step
Fun piece (10 min): time to play a song you love, just for enjoyment
Wrap-up (5 min): clear, simple practice goals for the week ahead

What sets me apart:
I'm patient, encouraging and flexible. Mistakes are simply part of learning, and I never rush a student. I spent 4 years working with children at a summer camp and I work with high school students in teen outreach programs, so I know how to connect with students of all ages and keep lessons fun and engaging. We choose music together, from classical to pop to movie and video game themes, and I adapt every lesson to your pace and goals. My passion is seeing students succeed, and nothing makes me happier than watching someone play a piece they once thought was too hard.

Who the lessons are for:
1. Complete beginners: no experience needed, and I'll start you from your very first notes

2. Intermediate players: refine your technique, learn more challenging pieces and deepen your music theory
Children, teens and adults: it's never too late (or too early!) to start

3. Students with specific goals: learning favorite songs, reading sheet music, understanding theory, or preparing for a recital or performance
