Methodology
In the past I have offered group and individual lessons, in those ranging in skill level from Beginner to Intermediate, and within the age range of 4-17.
I like to the "Hal Leonard" approach to teaching beginning, beginning first with music theory and posture/technique, before approaching the keys. This way, I believe the student has the ability to appreciate music in its entirety, thus being able to appreciate in different ways-mathematically, scientifically, historically, etc.
Background
I am currently a Junior in college, but I have been playing piano since the age of 7. I have been giving lessons in piano and voice( even though, I am not a singer myself) since age 15, giving me 5 years of teaching experience. My students have gone on to use their new skills of thoroughly analyzing music theory and musical concepts to master sight reading, and pick up other instruments with ease.
