About Carter
I have been playing piano since I was 3 years old, and I began competing at 8 years old. I won/placed at multiple regional and international competitions when I was younger, though have shifted focus from competing to better knowledge of music and music principles. My teaching experience is mostly limited to less experienced students of past teachers and acquaintances, though I've learned multiple practice methods and ideologies through years of solo work.

I primarily give lessons to students at the beginner to intermediate levels, focusing on basic technique, practice methodology, and musical ideas. In a virtual context, I'd prefer for students to send me an audio recording of them performing the piece they want to work on, which I would then review during the lesson and offer advice which we could work together to implement. I am open to working with students for both short term goals (learning a specific piece) and long term goals (improving technical skill and knowledge of music). Also,

I worked with Carter to finish preparing for a recital, as my teacher was on a trip for a while. He helped me understand a lot about musical phrasing, but in a way that was very simple to understand. He definitely is good at listening to what his students want, I told him I had only a few weeks before my recital, so he focused on helping me do specific practice for the music I was playing.
I went to him for help with AP Calc questions to prep for the exam, and he was able to explain every question clearly in a way I could understand. We were in the same grade in high school, and he was always willing to help people who had questions.

If lesson runs overtime because I can't fit all my comments into the specified time, I will not overcharge. Additionally, students may ask me for detailed notes as opposed to a lesson, in which case the pricing is $5 per piece to be critiqued.
