About Tessa
I hold a PhD in Piano Performance and have 13 years of teaching experience working with students across different levels. My journey with piano began at an early stage and gradually developed into a deep passion for both performing and teaching music. Over the years, I have guided many students in building strong musical foundations and developing confidence in their playing.
My teaching approach focuses on clarity, patience, and steady progress. I make sure students understand each concept before moving forward, helping them build skills step by step. I use demonstrations, structured practice techniques, and personalized feedback to support improvement. I also adapt my teaching style to match each student’s learning pace and comfort level, ensuring a supportive and positive learning environment.
Outside of teaching, I continue practicing piano and exploring different styles of music to keep improving my own skills. Teaching piano is very fulfilling because I see students grow from beginners into confident performers. Helping them enjoy music and achieve their goals motivates me to continue teaching with dedication and care.

Learning piano becomes more effective when students understand how technique, rhythm, and expression come together to create meaningful music instead of simply focusing on playing notes correctly. My lessons are designed to build strong foundations in finger control, hand coordination, posture, and note reading through clear and structured explanations. I guide students step by step so they can develop smooth playing habits and gain confidence with each practice session. I also include exercises that improve timing, accuracy, and expression, helping students play with both precision and feeling. Each session is calm and encouraging, allowing students to learn comfortably at their own pace without pressure.
I organize lessons based on each student’s level and personal goals to ensure steady progress and balanced development. Beginners focus on understanding the keyboard, basic hand positions, and simple melodies. Intermediate learners work on scales, coordination between both hands, and more detailed pieces. Advanced students focus on expressive playing, advanced techniques, and performance preparation. Practice routines, structured exercises, and regular feedback are included in every session to support consistent improvement and deeper understanding.
Piano lessons also help students develop patience, discipline, and creativity. As they improve, they gain confidence in their ability to perform and express emotions through music. Many students find piano both relaxing and rewarding over time. My goal is to make piano learning structured, engaging, and confidence-building for every learner.
