About Yuliya

I come from a musical family where everyone plays at least one instrument and sings. My background in music ranges from classical music, gospel and pop. I graduated music school in Ukraine where I studied for 7 years. After that I was playing piano for a Mariner High School choir while also singing as a worship leader at the Bethel Church. For about 6 years I taught kids piano and singing lessons and prepared them for different types of performances and concerts. I look forward to giving you my full focus and celebrating your growth and accomplishments!

About the lesson

Piano Lessons:
I believe everyone can learn to play the piano! I am using the blended method of teaching the piano, using The Disney Collection by Hal Leonard for kids, and Adult All-In-one course by Willard Palmer for adults. If you have other music material that you would like to work on, I am happy to use that instead. For beginners, you will also learn the basic music theory, reading, posture and playing techniques.Then I will assign you homework which you will need to practice on your own in preparation for the next lesson. My main priority is to teach a child (or an adult) by applying the best individualized methods matching to his/her best learning styles and personalities.

Vocal Lessons:
For beginners you will learn how the voice works and how to care for and develop your instrument. We will choose music that interests you and helps to build your voice starting with basics before moving to more complex and challenging music. Lessons include: breathing exercises, vocal warm-up exercises and technical work, solfeggio (sight-singing), ear training, speech coaching, preparation for auditions and performances. Understanding music theory and sight-reading will help you get the most out of your singing. After 3 - 6 months you should have a good command of breathing and an understanding of how to sing with an expressive tone. For the advanced student, I can help you work on trouble spots and give you tools to help with the changes that voices naturally go through. I look forward to giving you my full focus and celebrating your growth and accomplishments!
