About Tomomi
Thank You for your Interest in my piano lessons!
I have been teaching piano since 2008 in both Japan and the United States and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Piano from a conservatory in Japan as well as an Artist Certificate and a Master of Music in Piano Performance in the United States.
My mother told me, “Something you dedicate yourself to can support you throughout your life, especially when you face obstacles. That is piano to you.” As I have grown older, I have come to deeply understand and appreciate the meaning of her words.
As a piano teacher, my goal is to help students discover how music can enrich and support their lives. I hope that, through their experiences and achievements in learning piano, my students will develop the confidence and strength to overcome challenges they may face in the future.
I also believe that a piano teacher can be an important role model in a student’s life. I strive to create a supportive and inspiring environment where each student can grow, enjoy music, and discover their own potential.

My lessons focus on developing strong music-reading skills, piano technique, and musical understanding. Students learn to approach music from different periods while developing the techniques and knowledge of music theory needed to express each style.
Children have wonderful imaginations and creativity. I encourage students to explore these qualities through piano, helping them develop their own musical expression rather than simply learning which notes to play.
I also emphasize musical etiquette and stage manners, helping students perform with confidence, appreciation, and respect.
My goal is to help students become independent musicians who have the ability to read, understand, discover, and express new music on their own.
I also value the responsibility of passing on the musical heritage, knowledge, and piano techniques I received from my own teachers and professors to the next generation of musicians.

Tomomi is a sweet, nice, and patient teacher I have ever seen. She always thinks about how to help and inspire students to practice and pursue good quality playing. She usually goes to a lot of seminars or masterclasses to learn in order to always give students the best instruction. "A good teacher never stops learning," she is the one. Her students always show outstanding performance in many recitals, exams, or competitions. Her students all like her.
I know Tomomi because we attended the same music school where she earned her master’s degree in piano performance. We had a great time at the Mendocino International Music Festival where we both served as teaching assistants and taught those talented kids in Los Angeles. In her spare time, she obtained the RCM teacher certification. I appreciate that she offers her students numerous performance opportunities, prepares them for music exams, and guides them to become better musicians.
I highly recommend Tomomi as a piano teacher! She is incredibly caring, patient, and attentive to each student’s individual needs. She has a wide range of teaching methods and knows how to tailor her approach to different learning styles and personalities. Her strong pedagogy and genuine passion for helping students improve make her an excellent teacher. Students are truly in good hands with her!
