My only teaching method is that I only care about developing the most natural technique and musicality. I don’t stick to any “methods” because teaching piano requires the most flexible and individual approach while keeping the highest standards of education no matter the age or current level of the students.
Sticking to this belief, I have seen such improvements from beginners to pre professional students over the years.
Structure of lessons will vary based on what the students needs/wants. As a classical pianist of course that will be always for my job to help. I am also a composer myself and have incorporated arranging and transcribing at times. No matter what your interest is, I am here to help.
Professionally I have taught at Indiana University as an assistant. My work at the university entailed preparing the most wonderful group of young musicians for competitions, recitals, and auditions of various sorts. My students have gone on to establish themselves at various venues of Europe, Asia, and North America.
While teaching is one of my biggest passion, I consider performing to be integral to be able to provide fresh and flexible teaching. I am not adamant about any specific methods of teaching, but only want to provide the best possible education to each individual students. Active performance allow me to be in the constant sharp mind that only enhances my teaching. I have been artist-faculty at Indiana University Summer String Academy for a number of years, including the upcoming season.
Privately I have been teaching piano for more than 15 years, and I must say that it’s one of the most fun and fulfilling activity for me and I hope the same for the students.
