About Dean

Hi my name is Dean, and I have been teaching for 7 years so far. However, my experience with music is over 18 years.

Throughout my school life, I was part of choirs, orchestras, and smaller groups, during which I was already beginning my teaching career by assisting other students, and leading from time to time.

Outside of school, I also got involved in Saturday music school, which doubled the amount of musical activities I could get involved with, some which my school couldn't facilitate, such as percussion groups. As a result, this gave me access to a wider range of knowledge and experience.

To this day, I attend music related groups outside my teaching, and am continuing to progress in my own education. I do this not only to improve myself, but to improve my students, because the more I know, the more I can pass on to my students.

My main goal is to help you achieve yours!

About the lesson

During my lessons, you will learn how to master your current level, gaining the confidence to go further should you desire.

My lessons are always tailored to the students needs, but I do have certain ways of approaching particular challenges.

Many teachers will only cover new content in lessons and expect the student to do practice in their own time. While this is true, a teacher needs to first teach the student how to practice in order for it to be worth while. That is something I am firmly committed to.

I have been teaching for 7 years. I am experienced in preparing and entering students in for exams in both the piano (Up to Grade 8), and music theory (Up to Grade 5). Exams aren't everything however! I'm more than happy to teach people how to play for leisure.

I am also a member of the Independent Society of Musicians, with a registered private teacher certificate, and all the relevant checks.

My lessons are for all ages, so everyone is welcome. My lessons are typically 30 minutes to an hour in length.
