About Kirthana
Music has always been part of my life. I was classically trained in Malaysia and Singapore, and my heart has always been drawn to the Classical and Romantic periods. That said, I also have a soft spot for jazz and absolutely love a good singalong. Family parties usually find me behind the piano, and if not, you will probably find me at the nearest public piano. Over the years, I have had the privilege of performing at weddings across Europe, aboard the Royal Britannia in Scotland, and at countless school and university events. I cannot remember a time when I was not the go-to pianist. Although I had the opportunity to pursue music at university, circumstances meant I took a different academic path. That being said, my passion for music has never faded. Teaching gives me the chance to share what I love and to help others bring music into their lives in a way that feels personal and joyful. I highly enjoy tailoring each lesson depending on my students’ goals, pace, and musical taste. Whether you are preparing for exams or simply playing for the love of it, I would love to be part of your musical journey.

Hi there, My name is Kir and music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started learning piano at the age of 3 and graduated with a Classical Music Performance qualification at just 16. These days I work full time in tech but my love for music has never left me. I truly believe that music is for everyone, no matter your age or background. Whether you are picking up the piano for the first time or coming back to it after years away, I would love to help you on your journey. I offer: Piano lessons for beginners and improvers Theory support made simple and stress free Exam prep if you are aiming for ABRSM or Trinity Lessons just for the joy of learning and playing My approach is friendly, supportive, and completely tailored to you. No two students are the same, so no two lessons are either. I mainly teach in person around Surrey and Croydon, but I am happy to offer online lessons too if that works better for you.
