About Adrina

I've been a lover of music since the age of four, when I first started playing the piano. Music has always been my escape, my comfort, and my source of strength. To me, playing the piano isn't just about developing technical skills—it's about telling a story without words, painting a vivid picture through sound. While piano playing requires excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to interpret music exactly as it's written, I believe it goes beyond that. It's about connecting with the music on a deeper level, feeling it flow through you, and sharing that emotion with others. Music has always been more than just a skill for me; it’s been a way of life. And it's this same passion that I hope to instill in my students. I want them to understand that music is not just something to do—it's something to feel, something that can inspire and move people. My goal as a teacher is to guide my students in choosing pieces of music that resonate with them personally, helping them see the story within the music and encouraging them to convey that through their playing. By fostering this deeper connection to their music, I hope to inspire them to play not just with their hands, but with their hearts. In this way, music becomes more than a skill—it becomes a source of expression, creativity, and emotional connection.

I use an engaging and participatory approach to teaching music, ensuring that each concept is introduced carefully and in a way that the student can grasp effectively. For younger students, I incorporate fun, hands-on activities that encourage exploration and creativity, tailoring each lesson to their individual interests and learning styles. For my older students, I shift to a more practical, theory-based approach, where music theory is linked directly to their pieces, helping them to understand the underlying structure of the music they play and expand their musical knowledge.

Each lesson lasts 50 minutes and is broken down into the following sections:

5-10 minutes: Sight reading, to develop the student's ability to recognize and play new music fluently.
10 minutes: Customized technical exercises, tailored to each student's strengths and areas for improvement. This ensures that they build solid technical foundations while addressing specific needs.
30 minutes: Focused on learning a new piece of music or refining a piece already learned, allowing for practical application of the skills they’ve been working on.
At the end of each lesson, I provide constructive feedback so students know exactly what to focus on during their practice time at home, helping them to progress efficiently and with purpose.

Background and Expertise:
I have completed music certificate exams from Grades 1 to 8 under the Trinity College London school of music, specializing in classical, jazz, and pop music. My lessons are specifically tailored for learners of all ages, all of whom have a keen interest in learning the art of the piano/keyboard!
