About Jonathan
(please contact me directly through phone or email listed below if you are interested)
Hello! My name is Jonathan, and I’ve been playing classical piano for over 20 years. I’m based in Santa Clara, CA, and while I work full-time in tech, I teach only a small number of students so I can give each one the time, energy, and attention they need to grow.
I teach a wide range of students — from beginners as young as 6 to busy adults balancing careers in tech. My goal is to make lessons both enjoyable and effective, tailoring them to each student’s pace, interests, and skill level.
For students and parents who prefer a more structured approach, I also teach using the ABRSM system, helping students prepare for graded exams while developing strong technical and musical foundations.
While I have a special love for Romantic music (Chopin is my favorite!), I guide students through all types of repertoire depending on their goals.
Lessons are held at my home studio in Santa Clara on a 2023 Steinway Model M grand piano or at your nearby home.

Jonathan has been so patient with our kids, and they really feel comfortable with him. That makes a big difference, because they actually enjoy their lessons. He’s also great at keeping them interested by picking out music they’re excited to play.
I am a tech worker in Bay Area. Jonathan is an excellent coach for me. He understands the limited practicing time I have, so he helps me optimize my practice strategy. He is also very patient and encouraging. He gives useful suggestions on improving my sight reading, technique and musicality. I enjoy my lessons with him so far.
Jonathan helped me improve my musical phrasing and select pieces for me to work on that I would enjoy.
