About Tia

My relationship with the piano began through a fascination with musical expression and technical mastery. I pursued an M.Mus in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, where I deepened my knowledge of both artistic interpretation and effective teaching methods. Over the past 10 years, I have taught students of all ages, helping them build both technical skill and expressive musicality.

I value a teaching style that combines clarity, patience, and encouragement. Students thrive when lessons are structured, engaging, and responsive to their individual needs. My approach balances technique with creativity, allowing learners to develop strong foundations while exploring musical ideas and expression.

Beyond teaching, I stay connected to music through performance, composition, and continuous study of pedagogical methods. These experiences enrich my lessons and help me inspire students. Teaching piano is deeply rewarding because I witness learners grow in confidence, artistry, and enjoyment of music.

About the lesson

Piano lessons are most effective when students feel both guided and inspired. My teaching methodology emphasizes finger independence, reading fluency, rhythmic accuracy, hand coordination, and expressive playing. I integrate technical exercises into musical pieces to ensure that learning is practical, enjoyable, and directly relevant to performance. Lessons are structured to gradually increase difficulty while maintaining student engagement and confidence.

Lesson content is tailored to the student’s experience. Beginners focus on note recognition, simple rhythms, hand positioning, and coordination between hands. Intermediate learners refine dynamics, articulation, phrasing, and basic ensemble skills through duet playing. Advanced students explore expressive interpretation, pedaling techniques, stylistic nuances, and performance preparation. Practice strategies, reflection, and feedback are woven into every session to foster consistent growth.

Piano lessons also support broader cognitive and emotional development. Students often gain confidence, patience, discipline, and a sense of musical creativity. My goal is to help learners feel fluent, expressive, and confident at the piano, establishing a foundation for lifelong engagement with music.
