About Derrick
I am a conductor currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I have several years experience teaching piano, theory, and trumpet as well as actively performing on the piano and trumpet. I always hope to share a love of music in my teaching and help my students grow with each lesson.

I believe in a tailored approach to my students’ learning, whether that is aiming towards the more traditional exam oriented route or a more relaxed approach to learning the latest hits or favourite pieces. I have a focussed but accessible approach to technique and theory to make sure there is full comprehension and to speed up learning.
A typical lesson would start with some technical exercises and scales followed by looking at whatever pieces we are working on. All my lessons are focused on making music and making sure improvement is made from start to finish.
