About Alden

I hold a master’s degree in music with a focus on piano performance and have been teaching piano for over six years. My journey with music began in early childhood, and the piano quickly became not just an instrument, but a lifelong passion. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for both the artistry and discipline that piano playing demands, and I love sharing that with my students. Throughout my teaching career, I’ve worked with students ranging in age from young beginners to adults returning to music after years away. I understand that every learner has their own pace, goals, and challenges, and I take pride in crafting lessons that suit individual needs. My teaching emphasizes a strong foundation in technique and theory, but also encourages creativity, expression, and enjoyment of music. I aim to create a positive and motivating learning environment where students feel supported and inspired. I’m particularly focused on helping students become independent musicians—able to read music, understand musical structure, and explore new styles confidently. Watching students grow into self-assured pianists who truly connect with their music is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. Beyond teaching, I continue to perform and study piano repertoire, staying connected with the music community and constantly refining my own skills. This ongoing engagement allows me to bring fresh perspectives into my lessons and keep the experience dynamic for both me and my students. Ultimately, I teach because I believe in music’s power to enrich lives—and I’m honored to help others discover that joy through the piano.

About the lesson

My piano lessons are designed to suit students of all levels, whether you're just starting out or returning to the instrument after a break. Each session is tailored to your personal goals and musical interests, ensuring that the learning experience remains engaging, challenging, and enjoyable. I create a welcoming and structured environment that allows students to grow at their own pace while maintaining consistent progress.

The foundation of my lessons includes three key pillars: proper technique, sight-reading, and music theory. These elements are integrated in a way that supports overall musicianship, helping students understand not only how to play but also what they are playing. Technique exercises improve hand coordination and dexterity, sight-reading builds fluency, and theory fosters a deeper understanding of music structure and style.

As students advance, I incorporate a variety of repertoire, including classical pieces, modern songs, and student-selected music to keep them motivated and connected to what they play. Lessons often include creative components such as improvisation and ear training, helping students become more versatile and expressive musicians.

My approach combines encouragement, discipline, and curiosity. I aim to instill both technical skill and a lifelong appreciation for music. Whether you're preparing for exams, performances, or simply playing for personal enjoyment, lessons are structured to build confidence, creativity, and independence at the keyboard.
