About Harper
I am a dedicated piano teacher with 9 years of experience guiding students at every stage of their musical journey. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Piano Performance, which shapes my strong technical and artistic foundation. My teaching style is active, expressive, and focused on building both skill and confidence. I believe piano learning should be engaging, structured, and inspiring.
I work with students from beginner to professional levels, adapting each lesson to their individual goals. I focus on proper technique, posture, and control from the very beginning. Alongside this, I integrate music theory in a clear and practical way. Students learn not just how to play, but also understand what they are playing.
Music history is an important part of my teaching. I introduce different composers, styles, and periods to deepen musical awareness. Creativity is also encouraged through improvisation and basic composition. This allows students to express themselves and enjoy the learning process.
I carefully tailor lessons to suit each student’s pace, strengths, and interests. My approach combines discipline with creativity to create well rounded musicians. My teaching approach focuses on building strong piano skills through a clear and structured method. I teach students from beginner to advanced levels with lessons tailored to their goals. I start with proper hand technique, posture, and basic reading skills. This creates a strong foundation for long term progress.
I include music theory in a simple and practical way so students understand what they play. Concepts like chords, scales, and harmony are explained step by step. I also prepare students for exams such as ABRSM, Rockschool, and A Levels with focused practice and guidance. This includes sight reading, aural skills, and performance confidence.
I introduce music history to give students a deeper understanding of different styles and composers. Creative skills like composition and improvisation are also part of my lessons. Students learn how to create their own music and express ideas freely. This makes learning more engaging and meaningful.
I support students who enjoy modern styles by helping them master rhythm, chords, and performance techniques. I also guide those interested in expressive playing to develop their unique sound and musical identity. My lessons include classical, pop, jazz, and contemporary styles to suit different interests. I adapt my teaching to each student’s pace and learning style.
