About Jamie
I started teaching a few grinds because in my family pub where I was working at the time, word got around that I'd a bit of a background with maths, Irish, music, etc, and suddenly I was being asked: oh, could you give a little help in maths to young so-and-so. I had thought teaching sounded a bit dull (repeating things you know already?!), but I immediately realized that I've a reserve of patience and sympathy and energy for trying to convince people that they can learn whatever they want, that seems to have no bounds. So that's me - I love learning, and if I've a student who wants to learn, we're going to get along very well.

My approach to teaching is, I would say, a "human" one. I am not against competition and performance at all, those things can be exhilarating and challenging, but I feel like it can lead to an unhealthy relationship with music if it becomes the sole focus. My approach puts enjoyment first, and the rest follows. Which doesn't mean you can't work hard at the thing. Learning hard things, and working at them consistently, can be extremely rewarding! If you can learn to enjoy the learning, you can learn anything in your life (given enough time). My approach is to convince you that you, too, can learn things that seem out of reach right now, if you decide that you can, and keep finding the time.

Perfect! Amazing teacher and nice person. I really enjoyed my time during the lesson.
- Delfina was wonderful. Communcative, straightforward, and a positive person. We'd a great class, and got along easily. She picked things up quickly, and was not afraid to ask questions, admit if she wasn't following, and say what she wanted. A great student!Jamie's response :

Jamie is inspiring, creative, and a brilliant teacher. He really puts so much care and effort into his teaching. Always prepared, always on time and always reliable. His dedication to teaching is wonderful to see. If he's available for a class, you should book him immediately. I couldn't recommend him enough. A true gentleman.
Jamie was awesome. He’s the one who helped me get into piano improvisation without feeling totally freaked out. He knows how to break things down, teach effectively, and he does it all with contagious good humor.
Jamie is a very good tutor
Or, as the French would say, he is très bienJamie is a wonderfull teacher. His talent for teaching , (Irish) creative music ability and above all his ability to adapt to the profile of the students make him a stand out teacher that I highly recommend. He has been teaching me and my family over several years in person and on-line, on mutli instruments, with both efficiency and laughter. Thank you Jamie !
Jamie is a really great teacher. He can break down complex ideas into practical steps with ease. I'd recommend him for any sort of teaching position!
Jamie gave piano lessons to my son, and I highly recommend him as a teacher.
He has a great connection with young people and knows how to make them feel at ease. Jamie is a gifted educator: patient, kind, and genuinely interested in his students as individuals.
His lessons were always adapted to my son's needs and energy, which made learning both effective and enjoyable. You can tell he cares about helping each student grow — not just musically, but as a person.
If you're looking for someone who teaches with empathy, humour and real attention to the student, Jamie is a great choice.
SophieJamie is, first of all, a very patient and wonderful listener, and then a teacher, which makes him stand out from the other teachers. He observes, reflects on possible causes of my mistakes and very often I get amazing explanations and solutions to those problems, which help me progress and improve fast. I don't feel stressed about my progress in Jamie's classes and I can just enjoy playing, and there's never any urge to finish classes on time. So if you want to take a music class as escapism, to just relax and to have fun, this will be the right class for you!
When I was in primary school my mom booked me some piano lessons.
At first, I was kind of intimidated by the girafe-size man called my personal «music teacher» that she had chosen and by his strange taste in making home made video clip (seriously, what was that..?). But, as the lessons progress, Jamie learn to know me to help me progress musically. He adapted to my level, my pace and took an interest in my personal tastes in order to make the lessons more fun.
Time has now passed, I am now 17 with a broad musical background and a friend which I consider one of the greatest pillars of my short existence.
So yes, you can say he’s a trustworthy tutor :)I have been taking piano lessons from Jamie since over 3 years and I truly believe I couldn't have found a better teacher. I was very impressed by how adaptable he is, matching the students' energy and needs. If you need a slower/relaxed environment to learn, he's got you, and if you need a formal environment to work as hard as possible, he's got you covered as well ! Jamie is a very kind and human guy, and his piano teaching skills will definitely help you improve very fast.
Jamie has been my teacher for over 5 years and honestly he’s an amazing one!! I’m learning piano and guitar , but his approach to teaching is just so fundamentally clever that it applies to everything else he teaches, he’s always asking me for my thought process behind what I understood to find patterns and help me progress faster, always eager to understand and teach. On top of that, as native French speakers, my mother - who is learning piano with him- and I frequently talk to him in French and he’s very fluent, with an exceptional grasp of grammar and fun idioms. He will most definitely make learning a new language seem less daunting and overall more fun, while helping you achieve your goals!!
