About Ricardo

I'm Ricardo, a 30-year-old Portuguese musician and guitar teacher based in Manchester. I've been living and breathing music since I was a kid, starting with classical training and moving through rock, pop, folk, electric, acoustic, and everything in between. These days you'll find me writing original music, playing live across the UK, and genuinely loving every minute of it.

Teaching found me naturally. For three years I worked at a private music school with students ranging from 3 to 80 years old including beginners, returning players, neurodivergent students, etc. That experience taught me that there's no single way to learn, and that the best lessons happen when a teacher actually listens.

I hold a degree from BIMM, one of the UK's leading music institutes, and I bring years of real stage experience to every lesson, not just theory from a textbook.

My lessons are relaxed, flexible, and built around you. No pressure, no boring exercises for the sake of it. Just real progress towards whatever got you excited about the guitar in the first place.

I teach in English and Portuguese, in person or online.
Whatever your level, whatever your goal, I'd love to help you get there.

About the lesson

Want to play that Hendrix riff? Finally nail a Beatles chord progression? Get ready to perform on a real stage? That's where we start.

My lessons are built around what you actually want, not a rigid programme or a method book. And if your goal is to actually play live, who better to learn from than someone actively doing it across the UK?

We use whatever works: tabs, sheet music, ear training, backing tracks, recording yourself and listening back honestly. Progress happens when learning feels relevant.

Lessons are one hour, in person or online, in English or Portuguese.

Experience:
Classical roots, years of playing electric and acoustic across genres, bands, and stages throughout the UK and Portugal. Three years at a private music school with students from age 3 to 80, including those who learn differently.
Adaptability is at the core of what I do.

Who this is for?
Any age, any level. Classical, bossa nova, jazz, rock, pop, folk, acoustic, electric. Especially if you've tried before and gave up. That's kind of my speciality.
