About Kathleen
"Seventeen years of teaching violin has taught me how to listen closely to what players need. I am a musician rooted in oral tradition. My work involves helping returning learners find their footing again. Many teens come to me looking to bridge the gap between casual playing and formal skill.
I assist intermediate students who want to improve their intonation and tone production. Shifting positions can feel daunting without the right guidance. I often help players transition into orchestral playing with more confidence. We will work on spiccato and staccato bowing to sharpen your control.

"Assignments are sent home every week to keep you moving forward. I provide a unique module for each student to track their progress. We break down complex movements into smaller tasks.
This approach makes technical challenges feel manageable. My background at Berea College keeps my teaching style grounded in a real, audible groove. You will learn to internalize the music rather than just staring at notes. Learning is a process.
We focus on getting the sound right through imitation. This ensures you build a solid foundation."
