About Ivory
Music helps people find their place in the world. I teach because I want you to feel comfortable at a bluegrass jam. After 13 years of playing and performing across the American South, I have helped many grade exam candidates, kids, and hobbyists find their sound.
My Belmont University degree gives me the theory, but my time at festivals gives me the heart. I am patient with beginners who are just starting to hold the bow. Most students find my laid-back style helps them learn faster.
I have taught countless students over the last 13 years. You will soon be ready to join a local group. Happy fiddling.

You do not need perfect technique to start jamming. Sounding good is about listening more than moving your fingers.
I focus on tuning by ear, rhythm, and bowing technique to get you stage-ready. Because I record playback of tricky passages for home practice, you always have a guide between meetings. Beginners often worry about tone production, but we keep it simple.
It is about the groove. Whether you want to pass an ABRSM exam or play old-time tunes, you will leave with a clear plan. See you at the jam.
