About Alex
I am a recent college graduate who has spent the last 7 years reading and writing about social studies. I tutored AP history in high school, patiently helping students earn As. I graduated cum laude from American University with a degree in political science and history, spending my semesters in writing and reading-intensive courses. I have studied everything from the history of early Latin America to the American Civil Rights movement, and even helped a professor write a book on Nixon.

I walk students through reading, writing, and critical thinking so they can learn how to understand, evaluate, and debate for themselves. I have been lucky enough to learn from some great teachers and know firsthand how critical it is to listen to students who are struggling. My goal is to make sure students learn, not to make them regurgitate what I want to hear.
