About Marilyn
Picking up the instrument for the first time usually feels awkward and quite difficult. I confess that my own initial attempts at acoustic technique were clumsy and frustrating until I found the right rhythmic focus. My 6 years of experience allow me to simplify the mechanics of songwriting for any student.

I started out by obsessing over the precise fingerpicking patterns found in folk music. My 6 years of experience involve helping teens and returning learners navigate complex fretboards. I hold a BM Popular Music degree from the Université de Montréal which informs how I teach ear training. Grading exam candidates is a regular part of my week as I help them prepare for technical requirements.
I use my own electric technique to demonstrate lead guitar concepts in real time. Absolute beginners often need help with basic tuning and maintenance before we touch a song. We look at reading sheet music and reading tabs to ensure you have a complete skill set.
My approach relies on direct feedback to correct posture or hand positioning during our time together. Most of my work simply feels like a collaboration between two people who enjoy the process of making music.
