About Emilia

Oi! Sou Emilia e sou professora de português
Hi everyone! My name is Emilia and I am a Portuguese teacher. I am Canadian, but I have lived and taught in Brazil for an extended period of time. My lessons will help you develop your conversational skills in Portuguese and get insights on the Brazilian culture and lifestyle.
My lessons are suitable for complete beginners, as well as more advanced learners. I also have a special approach aimed at speakers of other romance languages.

About the lesson

My lessons are mostly focused on speaking and conversational practice. Grammar, writing and reading will also be covered. Students can expect to also learn some fun facts about Brazil and Brazilians during our lessons. Homework is assigned after each class and for best results, I would recommend spending at least an hour on the material and on reviewing what was covered during the lesson.
I typically offer private lessons, but partner classes are also possible, if both students have the same level.
If you are currently taking a university Portuguese course, we can go over your assignments and review confusing material during our lessons as well.

Oi! Comecei minhas classes com Emília em a semana passada e gostando muito! Eu aprendi um pouco português em a universidade, mas pretendo ir a Brasil para o carnaval no próximo ano, por isso tenho que praticar. Emilia is a great teacher and her explanations are very detailed. She always lets me know what I should work on and how to improve my accent. We only had 3 classes so far, but I'm hoping to continue with weekly classes until my trip.

Private lessons are from 25$ each.
For the duration of the pandemic lessons will be held online.
Payment for lessons is done in advance by bank transfer or paypal. Lessons may be cancelled up to 12 hours in advance or a cancellation fee will apply.
