About Linney
I'm a multilingual communicator and passionate language enthusiast originally from Brazil and now based in Montreal. I grew up learning English as a child, later added Spanish, and am currently learning French! My passion for languages and cultures is at the heart of how I teach today. I’m a firm believer that a broad repertoire is one of the modern day superpowers one can have. My approach is warm, relaxed, and fun — because I believe learning is a joyful way to expand your world, not just something to check off a list. I offer a friendly and respectful space where adult learners can practice speaking, improve their pronunciation, and gain real confidence — without the pressure of tests or rigid grammar rules. Before shifting to the creative arts, I built a successful career in PR and Corporate Communications, working with global companies and multicultural teams. That experience taught me how powerful clear, authentic communication can be — and how valuable it is to feel comfortable expressing yourself across languages and cultures. I love helping students connect not only with the language itself, but also with the stories, music, customs, and everyday life of the Portuguese speaking world. I’m punctual and reliable, have very flexible schedules and I’m always open to feedback. Whether you're preparing for travel, building confidence in your daily conversations, or simply love languages like I do, you're welcome here. My lessons are focused on practical communication and real-life conversation, ideal for adult learners who want to feel more confident speaking Portuguese in everyday situations. I offer a relaxed, supportive space to practice speaking, improve pronunciation, and build fluency — without the pressure of tests or formal grammar instruction. Each class is adapted to your interests, goals, and level, whether you're preparing for travel, looking to feel more at ease in daily conversations, or simply enjoy languages. We’ll explore relevant topics like food, culture, work, or daily life, and I bring in resources like videos, music, short texts, and images to spark conversation and keep things engaging. My methodology is flexible and student-centered — I help guide and structure the flow, but you lead the way in terms of themes and pace. I also love offering cultural context, travel tips, and local expressions, especially for students interested in visiting or moving to Brazil. What sets me apart is my trilingual background (Portuguese, English, Spanish) and my informal, yet thoughtful approach. I don’t focus on memorizing grammar rules — I focus on helping you express yourself clearly and naturally, in a way that feels relevant and useful to you. These conversation-based lessons are best for beginner to intermediate adults who want to practice in a friendly, no-pressure/no-judgment environment.
