About Kayla

I am a full-time student who prioritizes education of any sort - whether it is gaining experience or learning from an academic institution. I take a particular interest in social work and have an inherent desire to change the world for the better. I try to use any platform I have to make a difference in the world. I graduated from Helpmekaar Kollege with 7 A's. I attained the B1 DELF exam at L'Alliance Française. I graduated my undergraduate degree with distinction (80.40%). My home languages are English and Afrikaans and my second additional language is French. I am currently studying for a Post-Graduate Degree in Psychology, at the University of Pretoria. I am academically proficient I worked with Digitutors (for about 3 years) to tutor Mathematics and Afrikaans. Also marked Business studies papers, enhancing the organization's feedback system. Improved verbal and written communication efficiency, adaptability, management, empathy, and teamwork, and so became a featured tutor in Digitutor's 2022 newsletter. Because Digitutors is an online tutoring business, mastering several online tutoring systems such as Zoom, ClanEd, Blackboard, and Microsoft 360 has been crucial to the position. I have experience working as an administrative assistant at Sandton Medi-Clinic for a doctor- for a few months. I play the guitar and have played for 6 years - I also have some knowledge about singing as I was one of the top members of our school choir. In 2016 I was a part of a band - playing the guitar - and we received an ATKV gold diploma. I worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Pretoria in 2023. As a Teaching Assistant (TA) in the University of Pretoria’s Department of Psychology, I've had the opportunity to interact with and support both Psychology lecturers and students. My responsibilities have ranged from managing e-mails from lecturers and students to supporting them with any concerns they may have. Other responsibilities include organizing, packing, transporting, filing, and alphabetizing exams and records. Ultimately, make the process as simple as possible. Additional skills include using Microsoft Office 365 to create documents related to the position.

About the lesson

I graduated with an A in Afrikaans Home Language at Helpmekaar Kollege. My first language is Afrikaans. I find Afrikaans and languages, in general, very fun and insightful. My goal is for other students to learn the basics of Afrikaans and how to interpret the language. My approach to the subject is simple subjectivity and I will help students in primary school or early high school learn how to see a double meaning in every word as well as the structural language along with notes I've made.

Salma is very punctual and is willing to compromise. I work well with her son and give her son constant Afrikaans lessons, twice a week, to the best of my abilities. She is very honest and will do what she says she does and gives a lot of information upfront!
