About Jack
Hi, I'm Jack, an academic research scientist in my late 20s at the University of Oxford. Having come from a local comprehensive school to Oxford to study chemistry as an undergraduate over 10 years ago, I'm well positioned to recognise the impact a good teacher can have. Keen to make my own impact, I was fortunate to take up positions teaching mathematics and physical biochemistry to undergraduates during my PhD at Oxford. I took these roles very seriously, attending training courses on teaching provided by the university. Alongside this, I've further honed my teaching ability through private tutoring, with over 500 hours exerience aiding students from GCSE to university level.
I’m passionate about encouraging students to achieve their full potential, my experience thus far has revealed the necessity for detailed, personal feedback in facilitating continuous improvement. There is great joy in seeing a student develop independence and take control of their learning, ready for the next step in life.

I’m currently a postdoctoral research associate in the department of chemistry at the University of Oxford, engaged in research at the interface of biology, physics and chemistry. Over the last six years I’ve been regularly engaged in both university and private tutoring, gaining over 500 hours of experience. I’ve taught A-level and GCSE mathematics, further mathematics, chemistry and physics, both in person and online. At the University of Oxford I have taught undergraduate and graduate students, delivering weekly classes, marking work and providing detailed feedback to small groups of students. Furthermore, I have supervised undergraduate research projects, providing scientific guidance, encouraging best experimental practice and fostering independence. I’ve also extensive experience coaching university applicants, providing personal statement support and mock Oxbridge interviews, with previous students successful in attaining university places for physical sciences and medicine.
I'm currently looking to teach A-level mathematics, physics and chemistry, as well as undergraduate chemistry. I prefer a tutorial-style method of teaching, where work will be set in advance to the student, along with some reading, developing the students academic mindset. I'm also able to provide coaching for university admissions, including oxbridge interviews and personal statements.
