About Aïda

Dear student!

I am looking forward to meeting you. I particularly like sharing. In this case, teaching, for it makes me feel useful. Moreover, I like to wonder about languages, and students often ask questions. I love looking for the answer.

WHO AM I?
Having family in Germany, I have always spoken German. I also stayed several times in the UK, where I was able to perfect my English.
I have always been passionate about languages. I wish I could speak Italian and Spanish as well. I have been learning on my own for a few years now.
But it is hard to improve without a professor.

I understand myself mostly as a French person, but I am also German in my heart. I feel like I adapt myself quickly to new cultures.
I am a passionate person. I love meeting people and most of all, deep talks. I need to travel to remind me that life is worth living. New places fulfil me.
I am doing a gap year since I want to create new memories, grow up and work abroad before a new pandemic stops life.
Most people say my humour is not funny, so I only surround myself with people who find my off-the-wall humour funny. Everything is a matter of perspective, don't you think?

EDUCATION: I graduated from Sciences Po Aix last June - an Ivy League French school, and completed my studies with a research master's degree in social sciences.

About the lesson

I can help you prepare for an exam, a trip, or simply learn a language for pleasure.

TIME AND LOCATION: I will be travelling in New-Zealand the next few months.
Online meeting means with camera, to promote interaction.

TYPICAL LENGTH OF A SESSION: 1h.

FOR WHOM?
You can be a child, a teenager or an adult.
You can come from any country, as long as you have notions in one of the three languages I speak (to make the lesson efficient).
You can be a beginner, or experienced. I will adapt my methodology to your level.

MY LEVEL: I have a Franco-German degree and a very good level in both German and English (C1, fluent). Having family in Germany, I have always spoken German. I also stayed several times in the UK, where I was able to perfect my English.

EXPERIENCE: Last year, I tutored a highschool pupil to prepare her degree. I am used to teaching these three languages to the people I meet, orally, in a casual way.

TYPICAL SESSION:
- 5' to say hello (etc.) in the target language
- 5' to correct and add some vocabulary
- 15' you give me feedback on what you learnt/trained since the last session, we correct it
- 15' to repeat what you are learning, ask questions, take notes
- 10' to set new goals and explain homework
- 5' left in case we are late
- 5' to raise your preoccupations and say goodbye

METHODOLOGY: What areas of competence do you want to work on: speaking, writing, listening, reading? We can focus on the one you feel the least comfortable with.

Grammar sessions are important. We can use exercises, or insert them in a thematic “unit”, which can be an opportunity to acquire vocabulary in the areas of your choice (sports, history, culture, news, etc.).

I can prepare theme/version sessions too, if you want to learn how to translate.
