About John

I am one of those who wanted to be a teacher right from secondary school. I love teaching and being able to find ways of breaking down barriers to learning for all students. I have worked with a huge number of amazing students and teachers in my time and I’ve been incredibly lucky to have learnt a huge amount from all of them. I aim to engage students in their learning through positivity and passion for my subject!

About the lesson

I approach tutoring in a very similar way to my work as a classroom teacher, with humour and a structured and logical approach. I aim to build long-term knowledge through the development of self-testing techniques. My sessions each build on one another to integrate opportunities to recall prior knowledge as well as build in new skills and understanding. These sessions are completely customisable and can revolve around exam or essay skills, core knowledge or a mix of the two! My sessions last up to an hour and are aimed at those looking for support in GCSE or A-Level Geography or Politics. I have been teaching for five years and have a positive and friendly approach to both teaching and tutoring. I have a PGCE and QTS.
