About Tom
I am currently studying Jazz Bass at postgraduate level at Leeds Conservatoire and have a strong interest in improvisation, groove, rhythm and musical development. Alongside my studies, I regularly work on a wide range of styles and enjoy exploring what makes great musicians and performances effective.
As someone who is still actively learning and developing as a musician, I understand the challenges that students face when learning an instrument. I enjoy breaking down complex ideas into clear and practical steps, helping students build confidence and make steady progress.
My goal is to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where students can develop solid fundamentals, enjoy the learning process and achieve their personal musical goals.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, experience level and musical interests. As a postgraduate Jazz Bass student at Leeds Conservatoire, I combine strong technical training with a supportive and patient approach to learning.
I particularly enjoy working with beginners and developing players, helping them build solid foundations in technique, timing, groove, ear training and musical understanding. Whether you want to learn your favourite songs, improve your confidence on the instrument, develop your improvisation, or gain a deeper understanding of music theory, lessons will be adapted to suit your individual needs.
I believe that learning music should be engaging, creative and enjoyable. My aim is not only to help students improve their bass playing, but also to develop their listening skills, musical awareness and confidence as musicians.
