About John
I have three years' experience teaching at college, high school and middle school level. I have taught small classes and individual students. I have taught World History, Modern and Medieval History, and English as a Foreign Language; I also have expertise in International Relations, Archaeology, and Social Studies. My students nominated me for a teaching prize at university, and at the school I used to teach at, in Hefei, PR China, I even ended up on the school's ad billboard!

I am a final-year PhD student from the UK, with two teaching certifications (PDHEP and Cambridge CELTA). I teach using a method called 'guided discovery': in other words, minimising me talking at you, and maximising problem-solving through an exploration of the issues that you specify. I specialise in teaching non-native English speakers of English, and can also help to plan and edit written assignments. I look forward to meeting you!

If you would like me to assist with proofreading or editing of assignments, I charge an additional rate of $12 per 1,000 words (about two single-spaced sides of A4) (this is much cheaper than you'll get for a professional editing service!)
