About Vance
I have spent six practical years helping more than 190 students and professionals develop Excel skills that advance their careers. My background includes a degree in accounting and finance and professional experience as a financial modeling specialist, where I built valuation models and management reporting systems for private equity and corporate clients. I began tutoring after repeatedly being asked to train new hires on spreadsheet best practices, realizing that structured instruction could dramatically accelerate skill development. My students include finance professionals seeking modeling certification, business students preparing for internships, and entrepreneurs needing financial planning tools. I am particularly effective at helping students bridge the gap between knowing Excel functions and applying them strategically to solve business problems. I maintain a comprehensive library of financial models, templates, and case studies. Outside of teaching, I build financial models for startups, develop Excel training programs for corporate clients, and enjoy analyzing publicly traded companies. I believe that Excel is the most versatile business tool ever created, and I am passionate about helping every student unlock its professional potential.

My Excel teaching is practical and career-focused designed to help students develop the spreadsheet skills that employers value most. I begin every course with a skills audit that identifies gaps between current abilities and workplace requirements then design a targeted curriculum that delivers measurable improvement. Financial modeling is taught through the construction of real-world models including three-statement financial models discounted cash flow valuations and sensitivity analyses using best practices in model architecture and documentation. Data visualization is taught through the creation of executive-ready charts dashboards and reports that communicate insights clearly and persuasively. Process automation is explored through the use of Power Query for data transformation advanced formulas for complex calculations and introductory VBA for task automation. I emphasize spreadsheet hygiene teaching students to build models that are auditable error-resistant and easy to maintain. Every lesson uses realistic business scenarios and datasets that mirror the challenges students will face in their careers. For examination preparation I provide coverage of Microsoft Excel certification requirements with practice tests and performance feedback. I also teach integration with other Microsoft 365 applications for comprehensive productivity solutions.
