About Dave

Hi, I'm Dave Creek. I'll be honest with you: a lot of music teaching gets bogged down in theory, jargon, and drills that leave people wondering when they'll ever actually play something. That's never sat right with me. I'd rather cut the nonsense and get you behind the kit playing real music, and that practical, no-fuss approach is what I love most about teaching.

I've been playing for years, and what keeps me at it is watching regular, busy people surprise themselves — folks who were sure they had no time or no talent, playing solid beats far sooner than they thought possible, simply because we focused on what actually matters.

Here's what I believe: you don't need years of dry exercises or a head full of jargon to enjoy playing the drums. With a focused, practical approach, you can get real results in the time you actually have. So I keep things straightforward and down-to-earth — no ego, no showing off, no wasted effort. Whether you're short on time, convinced you're not musical, or just tired of overcomplicated lessons, I'll give it to you straight and keep it useful.

About the lesson

Let's start with the practical stuff: what do you want to be able to play, and how much time do you honestly have for it? I ask because I'd rather build you something that fits your real life than hand you a plan you'll never keep up with. Whatever your answer, there's no wrong one — I just want to make sure we're aiming at something you actually care about.

From there I keep it focused. There's a lot you could learn on the drums, but only some of it really matters when you're starting out, so we'll spend our time on the things that get you playing real beats — steady timing, coordination between your hands and feet, and enough control to make it sound good. No mountains of theory, no busywork, no filler. We'll work on the useful stuff, applied to actual music, right from the start.

I'll always be straight with you. If something needs work, I'll tell you plainly and give you one clear thing to focus on — not a long list that leaves you overwhelmed. And because I know your practice time is limited, I'll show you how to use it well, so the twenty minutes you've got actually moves you forward instead of going to waste.

The bottom line is simple: I want you getting real results without wasting your time. You'll be playing proper beats sooner than you'd expect, at a pace that fits your life rather than fighting it. Wherever you're starting from, if you want a practical, no-fuss way into the drums, I'll help you get there.
