About William
I'm a medical doctor (MBBS) and practising GP. My background is in surgery: I sat the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons' Surgical Primary Examination in anatomy, physiology and pathology. I have since spent more than ten years working in internal medicine. I also hold a BA, and I've always enjoyed teaching as much as clinical work.
I have tutored university students in physiology and biochemistry for 8 years, across Problem-Based Learning Tutorials.
I remember how overwhelming these subjects felt as a student: huge amounts of content, taught as facts to memorise. In practice, doctors don't recall physiology and biochemistry as lists. We reason through them every day, from a patient's blood results to why a drug works. That is what I teach.

One-on-one online lessons for university students in physiology, biochemistry and microbiology. Suitable for biomedical science, health science, nursing and pre-medicine students, and for GAMSAT Section III preparation.
How each lesson works
We start from a short clinical case, such as a patient with diabetic ketoacidosis or a man pulled from a house fire, and work back to the science behind it.
You predict what happens before I explain, so you build reasoning, not just recall.
I draw diagrams live on my iPad, and you receive the annotated notes as a PDF after every lesson.
We link each topic to a small set of core principles (gradients, feedback, rate-limiting steps) so new material starts to make sense on its own.
Each lesson ends with a fresh case for you to solve, so we both know it has stuck.
Topics include
Physiology: cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, acid–base, endocrine, neurophysiology
Biochemistry: metabolism, enzymes, molecular biology, clinical biochemistry
Microbiology: bacterial structure and growth, host defence, mechanisms of infection, antimicrobials and resistance
