About Live
Bonjour! My name is Live Lopongo, and I am a pre-law undergraduate student at the University of Iowa. As a native French speaker originally from the DR Congo who grew up navigating multiple languages (French, Lingala, and English), language learning has always been a huge part of my life.
When I’m not studying or hitting the books, I love helping younger students build confidence and skill in French. I'm patient, structured, and passionate about making sure my students don't just memorize rules, but actually understand how to use the language. Whether your child is just starting out or needs help building stronger reading, writing, and speaking skills, I'm here to help them succeed!

About my lessons:
My main goal is to help you master French both in conversation and on the page. Speaking a language is great, but without knowing how to read, write, and understand French grammar, you’re missing half the puzzle! I will make sure you get a well-rounded, complete understanding of the language.
A typical lesson plan:
Every session is tailored to your goals, but a typical lesson usually looks like this:
Warm-up: We’ll kick things off with a quick conversation in French to get your brain switching gears and review past concepts. (Or if it’s your first lesson, we’ll do this to figure out how much you know!)
Core focus: We’ll dive into our main goal for the day, whether that's breaking down a grammar tense, working on a reading or writing exercise, or practicing conversational flow.
Application: We’ll put what we’re learning into practice right away through dynamic exercises and guided dialogue.
Wrap-Up: We’ll do a fast recap so you leave feeling confident and clear on what we covered.
Who my lessons are for:
These lessons are designed for elementary and middle school students who want to build fluency and strong French reading and writing skills. (And while our focus is on language mastery, I’m always happy to help with school homework or test prep whenever you need it!)
What sets me apart:
I am a native French speaker from the DR Congo, attended an international school that focused heavily on language integration, and speak three languages myself (French, Lingala, and English). Because of this, I believe I have a unique perspective on what younger students need in language learning!
